Syncing with Capture One Pro

Follow these steps to import sidecars into Capture One:

1. Enable Sidecar Sync: In Capture One, navigate to Preferences > Image > Metadata. Under Sidecar XMP, set Auto Sync sidecar XMP to Load or Full Sync.
2. Export with Original Filenames: When exporting from BestShots, ensure Photo & Sidecar Naming Format is set to Keep Original Camera Filenames ({originalName}) so each sidecar matches its RAW master file stem.
3. Move Sidecar Files: Copy your downloaded .xmp files into your Capture One session's Capture folder alongside your original camera RAW files.
4. Synchronize Folder: In the Library tool tab, right-click the folder and choose Synchronize... (or select all images and choose Metadata > Reload Metadata).

All star ratings, keeper flags, and color tags update immediately across your thumbnail grid without requiring manual re-rating.

Organizing Capture One Sessions via 1-Click Desktop Scripts

High-volume commercial shoots often strain Capture One preview caches when importing thousands of non-keeper frames. You can streamline your session setup using the bundled desktop scripts:

1. In BestShots, export the XMP Sidecar & Workflow Bundle (.zip) with organizer scripts included.
2. Extract the bundle and place organize_keepers.bat (Windows) or organize_keepers.command (macOS) into your main camera RAW directory.
3. Run the script: it immediately isolates your approved keeper RAW files into a bestshots_keepers directory.
4. Point your Capture One session directly to bestshots_keepers as your Capture folder.

This workflow ensures Capture One only imports and generates high-resolution previews for your curated selections, saving disk space and processing time.
